Michael Allen (Mike) Kimbell, 70, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in Independence, MO. He was born in Wichita, KS on September 10, 1953. Mike met Shelley Koehler in 1968 when they were 13 and 14 years old, they began as friends and were completely won over by each other and wed on June 28, 1975. They celebrated 48 wonderful years together this past June. Mike was a lover of all things classic rock. He loved rocking out to bands like Pink Floyd, Kansas, Boston, Styx, etc. He and Shelley enjoyed attending concerts together and going to the casino. Mike enjoyed listening to music in the garage (his man cave) or on the deck warmer weather. Mike liked bow hunting, fishing, shooting guns, working in his yard, and was a very skilled handyman. He was known to be able to fix anything and was well known for his woodworking skills. Mike loved classic Camaros. He owned a 1969 Hugger orange Camaro and a 1973 white LT Camaro. He had an extensive Camaro die cast car collection. Mike was a very patriotic man, he was very compassionate, giving, and generous man. He never met a stranger anywhere he went and always had the best stories to share with those he loved.  Mike loved to make pumpkin bread and every year would make loaf after loaf of it. He made the best pumpkin bread around. More than anything Mike loved his family and was completely smitten by his two grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife Shelley, sons Adam (Tosha Cort) Kimbell and Matthew (Jessi) Kimbell, grandson David Kimbell, granddaughter Sarah Kimbell, brother Dennis (Irene) Kimbell, sisters-in-law Mona Kimbell and Joyce Kimbell, sisters Carol Swartsfager, Wenona Wolke, Cheryl Kimbell Hunter, and countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Winifred and brothers Kenneth Kimbell and James Kimbell.
