Although I regret not being a really good student in high school, by the grace of God I graduated! During my high school years, many of you may remember that I dated Ronnie Carter. We broke up after graduation and he joined the Army. I landed a job as a hostess for Continental Trailways. I traveled from Wichita to Kansas City, Mo on the Five-Star Luxury Coach, serving the travelers much the same as a stewardess would do on an airline. I learned a lot of people skills during that time and I really enjoyed the job.
I had been working there two years when I met Al Washee. Many of you know him as JR . We dated four months and then got married. We have one son and two daughters: Jesse, Erika, and Sara. I'm very proud of each one of them and equally so of my eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. After I had my second child, I began working at Cessna Aircraft. I started as an Admin Assistant in Engineering, and then to Sales Engineering until I became the Executive Admin for the Vice President of Flight Operations. I felt blessed to work there.
After 34 years I retired in May 2013. JR retired after 40 years working as a sheet metal mechanic. He and I had a very challenging marriage. It was like a roller coaster with lots of ups and downs. Plus, I wasn't always the easiest person to live with, either. God gave me a supernatural love for my husband and we stayed married for almost 44 years until he passed away September 25, 2018. The last two years of his life was beautiful, as if God was preparing us both for the loss that was coming.
As a child, I was raised in church and I always knew that God loved me. I also raised my kids in church. We were there every Sunday morning and evening and every Wednesday night. Today, I lead a small group on Wednesday evenings and a ladies prayer group every other Wednesday morning. I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior many years ago, but even so, I felt that something was missing until I realized that I needed to put God first in everything.
I'm a work in progress and it's a very hopeful and joyful process. I am very blessed! I love sharing God's word and praying for others. We are all made for a purpose and God's Grace is available for anyone who will receive.
I'm sorry that I didn't make it to the reunion, but I sure enjoyed our Allison gathering. God's blessings Pioneer friends!
